maxby is in gearhead mode today.
Jan 27, 2010 - 10:20 AM - by maxby
After yesterday's interesting view of exquisite camera collections, I am turning on my gearhead mode.

I noticed that more than 70% of the members here love to collect camera equipment and gear talk. So I am trying to fulfill this niche. Well, if you can't beat them join them.

I am planning to do a monthly feature of Camera Collector of the Month.

So those who are interested to be featured, please pm me. I know there are many of you out there.....

PMPE – Nikon Centre – “Face to Face” Photo Critique Session

PMPE and Nikon Centre proudly announce a new initiative to raise the standards and learning experience of photographers in Malaysia.

This is a joint effort by PhotoMalaysia PhotoSafri Experience (PMPE) and Nikon Centre.

The “Face to Face” photo critique session is not something very new in the photography industry. However, to organize it on a monthly basis, scale and more systematic manner is a milestone in the photography chapters of Malaysia.

This “Face to Face” photo critique session will be held on the last Thursday of every month. The inaugural session will be held on the 25th March 2010 (Thursday)

PMPE and Nikon Centre will appoint a panel of judges (critics) from professionals and advance amateur photographers who are experience in their own genres of photography.. The judges will... [Read More]

| eddieputera's PHOTOGRAPHY BLETHER : Photographers who forget to take pictures|
Jan 22, 2010 - 12:32 PM - by eddieputera
BLETHER S01

The civilised world has evolved far enough to proof that humans go through a repetitive evolution. Be it fashion, architectural, lifestyle, music and taste, trend setters go back and forth in time, in the continuous endeavour to evolve gracefully.

In photography we face the same phenomena. At the turn of the century, everyone in the industry including consumers and general public are so much into the digital fray and people are so eager to bury traces of analogue technology.

And the madness begins. Camera producers raced the megapixel race, eager to reach the non visible finish line far into the distant future. Price war and vicious marketing lure consumers into a state of euphoria and suddenly, digital camera became a household item. Professional studios embark on the expensive transition and took a dent on the productivity curve learning and adapting to new... [Read More]

I was out this morning and came home just after lunch and this was what the Poslaju man brought for me from Shashinki.

I took a picture of the parcel and when I opened it, this is what was inside

Attachment 138450

Its a Jobo GPS Unit specially made for Canon DSLRs but I'm quite sure it can be used by any DSLRs since in use you simply attach it to the hot shoe of your camera like in the picture below, and each time you hit the shutter button to shoot a picture, an electrical pulse goes through the hot shoe to trigger the GPS which then records the GPS location where you are standing.

Here's a top and side view of the ... [Read More]
